Katchmare at St. Louis Noisefest

The Southside of St Louis will once again rumble with a glorious racket the weekend of Oct 17, 18 & 19 as the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center hosts the Fifth annual Midwest festival of noise and experimental music - noisefeStL08. This years festivities will include 5 concerts featuring 56 ensembles from around the Midwest. As in years past, established leaders in the field (such as IS from Chicago, Mavis Concave of Cincinnati and our own Ghost Ice) as well as new promising artists.
This years festival will also include three workshops open to the public. And finally there will be an exhibit of artwork associated with noise in the Midwest.
Saturday afternoon Daniel Park will lead participants through the process of circuit bending. The workshop will make use of electronic devises harvested from thrift shops in the area. Particiipants will learn how to transfor these toys into noise instruments. Gergory Smith (known to lovers of harsh noise as Mavis Concave) will conduct a workshop on basic circuitry and electronics for noise musicians. On Sunday morning LEMP director Mark Sarich will conduct a discussion workshop on the nature of composition and improvisation and what is the nature of noise in society.

Admission
Each concert will cost $6 and $1 per workshop.
Weekend passes for the entire event are available at the Lemp Center.and are $24 for the entire weekend.
Group rates are available for teachers and classes.
